This week, over at I heart faces, the theme is whimsical. One definition of whimsical is quaint, unusual, or fanciful. I had a hard time deciding what I wanted to use to meet this definition. I have tons of my little girl, who is as fancy as they come. But last night editing a newborn session, this photo just screamed quaint and fanciful to me.

The hat, the look, the moment. Awww, I fell in love. I wish I could wear a head piece like this and get away with it.

This weeks theme over at I heart faces is yellow. Just so happened to have my little gal out in our secret garden with a couple yellow flowers. Can you see them? I know that I am drawn to her laughter in this picture. My little Goose is belly laughing over something. Not sure what, but I love it.

I love catching real life moments like this. While my gal is often serious, it is so much fun to get those goofy laughter filled moments caught on camera.

I feel so blessed to be this little gals mama.

I had a hard time deciding the photo I wanted to enter this week. But the look between baby and mamma, on this one, just melts me. So very sweet, and the light, oh it was yummy.

Nothing like looking into the eyes of your first born baby girl. Love at first sight, that's about all I can say about it. And to me, that is exactly what is being said in this picture.

I Heart Faces - Wind

Well, I am back again. Happen to see the I heart faces contest go live tonight and the first photo I thought of was an oldie but goodie. Long hair and wind, sometimes a lovely thing.

I can hardly believe this photo was taken just about a year ago. This was right before we cut Gooses hair, and donated it to locks of love. We went on an impromptu photo shoot, and the wind was blowing.

Boy has she sure changed this last year. One thing is for sure, her love and kindness has not changed. She is growing her hair back out currently, to donate again. Gosh I love that little gal, heart of gold she has.

This week, at I heart faces, is another people's choice week. Best February Face is the theme.

It was so easy for me to pick my favorite February face. This photo will probably go down as one of my favorite images for ever. Such a wonderful moment, caught of a mama, and her precious baby girl.

I mean seriously, can you not just feel the love in this moment? The light, the emotion, the beauty, I love it all. This image speaks to the heart. I am so grateful to have been able to give my dear friend, a moment of sheer beauty, frozen in time.

I Heart Faces - anything but a face

One day I will have the time to blog again. Today I am back with another I heart faces weekly entry. This week is anything but a face. I had a hard time deciding what photo to enter. Then as I was finishing up edits on this recent senior shoot, I came across this one. Baseball has been a big part of his life for a long time now.

My little guy is just now starting t-ball, to think that one day, his hands will grow to hold a bat this tight. This session really gave me a lot to look forward to, in raising a son. My little guy is at the beginning of his journey, I can only hope that he turns out as wonderful as this young man has. I felt so grateful to be able to capture lasting memories for his family.

I Heart Faces - Red Week

It's red week, over at I heart faces, in support of "Go Red for Women. I love this theme, and it was fun to look at all the entries with beautiful shades of red in them.

I had a hard time deciding what "red photo" I wanted to use. Then I remembered this sweet photo of the kids, in Grandpa's old red car. We had gone to visit him at the car show. They were so thrilled Grandpa let them sit in it. I however was nervous. But not too nervous to snap a few photos.

I just loved this one. Such a memorable day for the kids to look back on. And certainly fits the "red" criteria. Feels like a moment captured in time, to me anyway.

I heart faces - Hearts

I had a tough time deciding what "heart" photo to enter. My favorite little gal dressed up in hearts and did a mini photo shoot so I could have examples for valentines day. I had quite a few favorites that made it hard to pick an entry.

I decided to go with one that was a little different. Different angle, which I have been trying to in cooperate more often.

So here she is, my favorite Valentine. Well, at least my favorite girl Valentine.

I Heart Faces - Best January Photo

Oh how I have missed entering my weekly photo in this contest. I love I Heart Faces so much, and am so grateful for all I have learned from this community.

This week's theme is best January 2011 face photo. It was hard to pick a photo. I had so many January face photos that I just loved to pieces. If fact I am still going back and forth in my mind which one to choose, oh boy. Here goes nothing.

I just love this precious moment with a beautiful Mommy, and her newborn baby. I feel so blessed that I have been able to capture moments like this for this wonderful family. Often times mommies of newborns, are not ready to be in front of the camera. I always try to get at least one. It is such a wonderful memory to create. Thank you Chelsea, you are a beautiful Mommy from the inside out.

Well, kind of. I posted a recent picture of my little gal, over on the photography blog. You can check it out here. I can hardly believe she will be six this weekend.

I really want to blog more, been thinking about it for awhile. Not certain I can keep up with both. It still is nice to stay connected to so many through facebook. Can't wait to see what else is going on with all of you.

Things have been so crazy for so long, I guess that is just life in session. Now that I have come to terms that this is just the way it is, ever changing, it's just not that bad.

This is an amazing week over at I heart faces. The theme is photojournalism. Pictures telling a story. There are some amazingly beautiful pictures and stories to tell over there this week.

I missed the deadline last week, so I knew I didn't want to miss this week.

It is hard for me to explain the bond that my children have. It is so beautiful to watch and listen to them. Even though I may not be able to explain to you how incredibly close they are, I think this picture says it all....

My prayer would be that they survive the teen years together and still love each other as much as this warm August day. These two warm my heart daily.

Rooney just asked me when sissy was going to be home. He misses her already.

We just finished making her a special treat for when she gets home.

I have too say that I miss blogging so much. It has been a crazy year, to say the least. I had built so many relationships while blogging, that during this break, I have missed so many of you.

Life happens, and sometimes things have to go. When my sister got sick last year, blogging really took a back seat. Luckily quite a few of you still connected with me on facebook, that I am so grateful for. I have jumped on a few time, in hopes I could return full time, it just has never worked out that way.

Things continue to change in our lives, and I continue to miss the network I built, so long ago. I am happy to report that my sister Brook remains cancer free. Praise the Lord, this has been quite the journey for her I am so proud of how brave she was. She will actually return to work at the end of this month. Her new bone marrow is working and we could not be happier about how things are progressing. There were some very scary moments. Moments I would never want to watch anyone go through again, but all the while Brook met each of them with a faith and understanding that she was being taken care of. It will be so wonderful to watch her return to the work force and pray that the biopsy she will have at the end of the year will continue to show cancer free.

A full update would be way too long right now, so I will leave you with a few recent pictures.

I Heart Faces - Teen

Next few weeks, I heart faces is celebrating teens. Hence, this weeks photo needs to have a teen in it.

I was lucky enough to have my first senior shoot recently. We had such a great time. Would love to be able to work with teens more often.

This particular teen was as sweet, as she was beautiful. Smart too, and had many wonderful goals already set.

Hard to pick my favorite of the bunch. But this is one of them.

Sunflowers are her favorite, and as she smelled them, I asked her to think about a certain guy. He may or may not be in a very popular teen movie. Any guesses??

An update of sorts.

I know it's been awhile, and all I can say is my plate has been full for way too long. Some good, some bad, but most it just is what it is.

Every time I think I am going to have time to join the blogging world again, something pulls me away. I sure do miss seeing what is going on with all of you. Those of you that are on FB it's nice to follow along there.

When I started the blog it was more of a place where I could record memories, keep update with a few friends, and just talk about whatever I wanted without really needing someone to listen.

Many bonuses came from my early blogging. A huge family of fellow bloggers. Some of which I feel like I've known all my life. A true fellowship was born, and I loved all the support.

Another thing that happened, was my casual love of photography, took on a new dimension. Man, you just never know the path that God is going to lead you down.

What started as wanting to improve the pictures of my kids, slowly became a bit of an obsession. I wanted to learn everything I could too better my skills. Books, websites and manuals became my best friend. I put down the little point and shoot for my first DLSR, and have not looked back. Infact I've moved up a step in my SLR and can't wait until I can move up again. My husband has become very supportive of this, and I am excited to see what the future holds.

So what I am saying is, that what was once a fun hobby, has turned into something way more. Business cards are in and I have been for hire for a little while now. It is almost unbelievable, this is not the direction I thought I would be turning at 40 years old. But it's true, I can now call myself a photographer, and seriously, it feels great. There is something about capturing a memory for someone that just warms my heart.

Anybody miss us?

I certainly miss all of you. It is kind of sad, I really had to make the decision to not blog for awhile. Family had to come first. Some of you have checked in on us often, that was such a blessing.

So many things have been going on, it's been kind of hard to keep up with things at times. I think when things finally slow down, if they ever really do. I might just not know how to act.

Anyway, many things are changing for me, more on that in another post.

I will tell you, my sister Brook is doing well. She remains in remission, and continues to get stronger everyday. There is even talk of her returning to work, at the end of June. Thank you again, from the bottom of our hearts for all of your prayers.

I pray all of you Mommies, had a wonderful day. And I hope and pray this little, "check in" finds you all well.

I am going to try and get back in the swing of blogging again. Hope I can jump back in, but those of you that have taken a break from itknow how hard it is to get back. If you are on facebook, you can find me updating there a little more often.

I Heart Faces - Dramatic Black and White

Wow, there are already so many entries for this weeks I Heart Faces theme. And there is still a full day to go.

Dramatic black and white. Oooh, I had a hard time choosing, which way I wanted to go with this. I had an idea, but no time to implement it, so I searched my files.

I remember when we took Rooney to get his face painted, his eyes were mesmerized. by this eccentric gentleman. turning him into a very handsome pirate.

I can only imagine what he was thinking at this very moment...

I Heart Faces - Angles

Well here I am again with another I Heart Faces entry. I promise to give an update post soon. I am running on all cylinders lately, and do not have much time. This weeks theme is angles. You can read more about it here.

The only little time I have left for myself, has been spent on improving my photography skills. I had one of my best friends out on a shoot a week ago. Good grief, these two got a little steamy.

I thought this shot was perfect for Angle Week. They are positioned on the ground and I am standing above, a bit off to the side. This was also an attempt at the whole leading line thing.

Aren't they a beautiful couple? I tell you, if I Heart Faces ever has a "steamy" week, I have a few from this shoot that will fit the bill.

On a side note, my Sister will have another bone marrow biopsy this week,we will see how well the transplant is doing. Won't you pray for remission with me?

I Heart Faces - Bundled Up

This weeks theme at I Heart Faces is bundles up. Well, its pretty hard to find reason to bundle up in sunny Southern California. Lucky for me, we took the kids to see the snow, for the first time this year. Boy were they so excited. We rounded up everything we needed to keep us warm and off we went for the weekend.

I Heart Faces - Hilarious Outtakes

Well I've missed a few weeks, over at I heart faces. Boy, that is real tough for me to do. I just love all the wonderful people, involved over there, but life was just so busy, I had to step out for a bit.

This week is hilarious outtakes, and you can enter up to five photographs. Good thing for me to jump back in this week.

I took the kids out on an impromptu shoot, a couple of weeks ago, to get some valentines pictures. I had great ideas in my heads, and I was armed with loads of props. I really wanted to get some nice pictures of the two of them, since we skipped passed Christmas pictures altogether. Well, the kids had something else in mind. I think the entire shoot was one hilarious outtake after another.

I wanted to get something loving, and sweet, with brother and sister. As you can see, all brother wanted to do is stick out his tongue.

And this mother can see the smirk that goes with that tongue sticking out. The other thing he wanted to do is just lay in the grass and play with mommies iphone.

Ugh.... He is three. I don't know when he is going to start looking at the camera again.

I thought the glasses would be a hit. But, all they wanted to do was look at each other and laugh.

They just thought they were the funniest things. I had great intentions, but this day just was not working out for us.

I took Goose aside, and thought I would get a few of her sitting on our lovely little toddler chair. Well the minute she sat down, back it went. Ooops there she goes falling to the ground.

The funniest thing, was her reaction. She laughed so hard, it was hard not to laugh with her.

I'm sure glad they had a great time.

Needless to say, I didn't really get what I wanted that day, but I learned my kids have a great sense of humor.

So glad to be back again.

Seriously MIA

I am so sorry to be MIA for so long. I had no idea the toll having a sick family member takes on one. It seems everything around me has been put on hold. I am not saying that is the right way to handle things, but it just happened.

I desperatly want to get back to my blog on a regular basis. I love the love and encouragement from the blog community.

Not much new going on here. I am trying to get things on track, so I can, once again devote more time to my sites. I know I have said it before, but I think that time is near.

I am listening to the pouring rain outside, and I love it. The kids are playing in the other room, and I love that too. I am so grateful for all that has been given, the good and the bad. I am so grateful that my sister Brook is fighting this battle, with all that she has. She is getting stronger everyday. This week she was recently cleared to drive again, post bone marrow transplant. I thank God for the courage, and strength, that he has given her to beat this Cancer.

Today I am going to finish my spring cleaning, in the rain, then try to work on a long overdue photo post. I've even missed the last couple of weeks entering I heart faces. Sometimes, especially lately I have felt so weak, but know that is the "un truths" we often face. I hope that makes sense. I just wanted to let you know where I was at emotionally.

Had a fellow blogger over last night, any guesses???? =) Should have taken the camera out.

I know I am rambling, and honestly I can go on randomly like this forever, and not feel caught up. I also wish you could all leave me a "update" comment. I know I will never get fully caught up. But believe me, I have seen the preganancy announcements, the growth of the little baby girls and boys, and certainly have been praying for you all.

What spare time you say. Well, I'm thinking I might have some spare time real soon. Okay, having just said that, means something is sure to happen to fill any time I thought I was going to have free.

We have a five year old

Last week little Miss Goose celebrated her fifth birthday. It's hard to believe that she is five already. It's also hard to believe that my father has been gone five years also. The birth of my baby girl, and the death of my father, all in a 48 hour period just seems unreal, even five years after the fact.

Most of you guessed it, Goose wanted to spend her 5th birthday at American Girl. I have more pictures to come, this is one we took right before we left for our day of adventure.

I just love this little gal, she is the sweetest child, and I can not wait to see what God has planned for her. Happy 5th birthday baby girl.

A long overdue update.

Goodness gracious, it seems like it has been so long, since I had the time to sit down and update. Funny that I thought when the kids were both in pre-school, I was going to have so much more time, and actually keep caught up with things.

Well, as most of you know, life took a different direction for us around here. My sister Brook and I half heartly joke that we were suppose to be going to the movies and early lunches while the kids were at school. We weren't suppose to be sitting and chatting over a game of crazy eights at the City of Hope. Sometimes life just is what it is, and you have to make the provisions to deal with it.

Brook has had the battle of her life, and hopefully is finally through the worst of it. Her levels are back to what they should be. She will have a another biopsy today, to see if the white cells are good, then, hopefully she will be home by Friday, after almost six weeks in the hospital. She is feeling stronger everyday and is eternally grateful for all the prayer, cards, gifts and love recieved. I pray that this bone marrow transplant was the forever cure that she needed.

In other news, I've been working very hard on the photography front. More on that to come. The mister and I were also involved in a beautiful wedding this weekend. It was such an honer and pleasure to watch two of our friends join together in marriage. It was also a nice little weekend getaway for us. Much needed, but I'm still recovering from the time away.

The last bit of news, is little Miss Goose has a big birthday this weekend. No party planned, just a special trip, to a special store. I hear it's a girls dream, I've never been there. Any guesses?

I Heart Faces - Texture

Well once again, I Heart Faces has me reaching into untraveled territories. That's one of the things I love about I Heart Faces, they are constantly helping me to grow and learn, while doing something I really love.

This week is all about texture. Your photo must have a face, and texture in it. It can be added in editing or natural. I thought this sweet little face was a perfect shot to play with some added texture. Now, I am still a novice when it comes to these things, so this is my best shot, with limited time, at adding texture to this lovely face.

I Heart Faces - Happy Birthday

It's birthday time over at I Heart Faces. In celebration of their birthday, they are having an amazing week planned. Giveaway a day, and of course, their usual weekly challenge.

This weeks theme is best face, and there are 18 amazing judges, returning from this past year. What a week to be involved. There are already over 800 entries this week, WOW.

I had a hard time deciding what to enter. I went back and forth over what photo I thought was a recent best. Since my first entry ever, at I Heart Faces, was my little Goose, I thought I would choose a picture I took of Goose last week. (Thanks Pam) We were outside, and I was practicing with spot metering, instead of the evaluative. Oh, and I was using the lovely new lens, my hubby got me for Christmas.

I also thought this photo was also a good reflection, of how much I Heart Faces and it's contributors, have taught me this past year. My very first photo entered was from a point and shoot camera, and I hardly knew a thing. I still have a long way to go, but am forever grateful to I Heart Faces, and everyone involved, for all I have learned.

This is little Goosie girl, out in the back last week. Isn't Southern California weather grand? I had to dig short sleeve shirts, out of the boxes, just so they could play outside. By the way, excuse the non brushed hair, I still think she's cute.

So sorry it's been awhile...

So many things have been going on. My plate has never been this full. And yet with the Grace of God I continue to plug along.

I hope you all had a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. I pray that this is a year of many dreams come true for all of you.

My sister had her transplant. The day of the transplant was horrible to watch. She received it via a transfusion. She had some sort of reaction to the red cell protein and my heart broke to watch her go through this. Brook is at the very worst part of the process right now. Please continue to pray. She does have a fever right now and they are trying to get the right antibiotics on board to control this.

Like I said, our plates have been extremely full. My step dad collapsed at home and was rushed to ER. He actually coded twice. His heart is failing him, he was put on a pacemaker and that seems to be working. Chris has been on dialysis for almost six years now awaiting a kidney transplant. His body is really showing signs of deterioration. This is so sad to watch him and my Mother go through.

I have so much more to fill you in on, but again limited time. Every time I think I can blog again, I am pulled away. It does help to check in and record this time in our lives. I thank you all again, for your continued prayer, beautiful prayer messages and texts and emails, it all means so much to me.

City of Hope

What a beautiful name for a hospital, don't you think? Hope is what my heart is full of this Christmas. My sister Brook, will enter City of Hope this Sunday. She will have a week long intensive treatment, to prepare her body, for a much needed Bone Marrow Transplant. Thank the Lord, our little sister Rachel is a perfect match and prepared to undergo surgery on December 30th and give the most precious gift she could ever imagine giving. Please keep both of my beautiful sisters in your prayers.

I Heart Faces - Sweet Dreams

I took a few weeks off from entering photos over at I Heart Faces. Not because I wanted too. I love entering photos, even though the talent is enormous. I find I Heart Faces weekly challenges truly help me grow as a photographer. We have been super busy, and I just took a little break.

I could not pass up the Sweet Dreams category this week. Especially since I recently did a newborn shoot. There are so many wonderful photos this week. WOW just amazing stuff, but I still wanted to throw mine in for fun.

Baby K is very precious. I just love her bottom lip. Almost every picture I got of her sleeping had her little tongue out. Baby K has two beautiful sisters if you want to check them out here.

It is official...

If you all haven't noticed I've been a bit busy in the last few months. It really does not look like there is an end in site. I am just learning to live on less sleep and go with the flow.

My sister will enter City of Hope on the 14th of this month with the bone marrow transplant to take place on the 23rd. We are praying that our Christmas Miracle comes in the form of a complete cure via the transplant. Thank you all for praying with us.

In other news, I am finally ready to take something I love to a new level. Well, I have been working on doing that for awhile now. I am just now saying it is official. Yes, I am talking about my love of photography. I have been diligently trying to learn and grow with this for quite sometime now.

I have separated out my blog, so you can see my progress, in this respect. While it is still under construction, most photography related posts can be found over HERE. I would love for you all to join me on that journey. I will tell you that there is something very precious to see, that I just posted.

Now, I can get back to just family blogging here, but fairly certain you will still see some photos of the little one's. I want this to be the place that they can look back at one day.

Thank you to all who have stuck with me, and encouraged me, during this rough couple of months, I appreciate it more than you all know. I believe, without a doubt, I will be able to get back to it all one day. Right now, I just have to make it work.

A huge surprise

For two weeks, my husband told me that we were going away for the night. We were leaving the kids at my in-laws, and we were going somewhere special Saturday night, and them something casual on Sunday.

He had me guessing many things, for those two weeks. At times he told me different things I might need to take. He was actually driving me pretty batty about the whole thing. Saturday, as I was packing myself and the kids, I even asked what he needed to take. I ironed him a shirt for the evening, and even ironed one for the following day.

I even asked friends what I should wear, and they all seemed to wonder what my husband had up his sleeve. Nobody knew a thing. And the two that told me they might have an idea, would not let on anything.

Saturday night we went to drop the kids off at my in-laws, I thought to myself, I sure hope whatever we are doing is something my husband will enjoy. He has been working so hard, he deserves a special night out too.

We arrived at my Mother in laws, and the kids were so excited to stay the night. We walked in and all was quite. My mother in law said Grandpa was out back, lets go see him. As we walked out the door, there stood my entire family, my husbands entire family and lots of my very close friends. The patio was dressed with tables and chairs, heat lamps, and the cutest little lights. There was even a DJ with music playing. I was instantly brought to tears. I was so surprised, I had not even a thought that he had planned a party.

Wow, did he ever get me. My husband went above and beyond. He had thought of everything. It was such a beautiful night, surrounded by family and friends. The night was just wonderful. I believe a great time was had by all. The food was yummy, the dancing fun, and the love of all my family and friends was priceless.

I can not even imagine a better way to celebrate turning 40, than the fun we had that night.

A beautiful Thanksgiving

Look at this little Thanksgiving beauty? Looks like it should be an Easter picture or something. It was near eighty degrees here, and the kids had a great time running with their cousins all day.

Of course my little Goose, had to wear a dress, and found the first pink flower to stick in her hair. I love that she is such a girly girl. She has even asked for a box of rings for Christmas. Oh how I love her. She is sweet and sensitive and I am forever grateful for the gift that she is. I can hardly believe we will plan her fifth birthday soon.

Speaking of birthday's, I had a wonderful day, but have another surprise yet to come. My husband has planned an overnight getaway and I am chomping at the bit to figure it out. I have no idea what to even wear. His mother told me I needed a jacket and he told me to bring a swimsuit and tennis shoes.

Wherever it is, I think it is so sweet he has planned a little surprise for me.

Or should I say 40 is fabulous? Either way, thank you so very much for the birthday wishes. It is true, today I celbrate my 40th birthday. Well, not so much today, hubby has some kind of surprised planned for this weekend. He told me to pack for the night, and I have no idea what he has up his sleeve.

In other news, you can find me over here today. I just love Jill and it was so much fun to be her secret sneaky friend. Jill, I tried to use the badge and it did not work for me.

It's been a bit busy

I was reminded today that I actually used to blog everyday... I do miss the regular connection. I miss putting down all the stories that I know I will forget someday.

I really want to be able to keep up with everything that is going on, but I have surrendered. I can't, I'm okay with it now. I know it won't always be like this.

For now, I will tell you that my sister is scheduled to be admitted to City of Hope, the 14th of December. Her first week there will be an intense week of chemo and radiation. On or around the 22nd will be the actual bone marrow transplant. Until then, my sisters are going through many tests, to get ready for the transplant. Continued prayer is certainly appreciated.

Things are constantly changing around here. One thing I want to say is I am so grateful to my husband. He is the hardest working man I know. Even though he does not read this blog, (no bonus points for me) he has worked so hard, during this economic down turn, to continue to provide for his family. I am so proud of the man he is.

I have so many more things I want to fill you in on, but no time tonight...

My kids just love her, and have had the best time watching me edit her pictures.

Isn't she stunning? I just love all those long golden blond locks.

We really had a lot of fun. Thanks little Miss A, for being such a wonderful model.

I am not even half way through the edit process, of a maternity shoot I did on Tuesday, but I just had to get a little peek up.

Can you believe we shot these on Tuesday, and K was scheduled for a C-Section, on Wednesday. The location was beautiful, Mommy looked beautiful, it was such a nice time. Thanks again K, for letting me help preserve this memory, for you and your family.

I should have never said that I felt like I was going to have more blogging time. I maybe had a day or two, to check in with you all, then bam, I'm busy again.

It's not all bad right now though. And you will see soon some things I have been up too. Oh, and let's not forget, this Friday we will find out what the transplant team has in store for my sister. Praying that they have the perfect plan in store for her.

In the meantime, I will tell you, I have been real busy working on my photos. My nose has been in a few books, learning some new editing techniques. And just this morning, I did a maternity shoot. In addition to all of that, I have two more children shoots set up before the months end. Not certain where all of it will go, but I trust it is all moving in the right direction.

It's balloon week, over at I Heart Faces. There are some wonderful entries, as always, you should really go check them all out.

You know it is really hard to sit out a week with I Heart Faces. I had nothing in my archives, that I loved. So the kids and I went and got some balloons, at the store today, and set up a photo shoot outside, late this afternoon.

It did not go at as I envisioned it too, but I was happy with a couple of them.

Did you see that? It was me.... It was me taking a great big breath of air. Yes, I feel a breather coming on. I know I have said it before, but it really looks like I might get a chance to sit down and catch up again.

I think I might be back on the regular blog wagon again soon. I have missed you all, and really want to catch up soon. You know how good you feel, after you reconnect with someone, you have not talked too in a long time? Well, that's the feeling I want.

I've given up on sending thank you cards out, I'm in the middle of an audit, and Jane Anne, I promise you will see something from me one day.... Good grief, I have to take all my mail to the post office, because my mailman is a slug.

I promise to get some Halloween photo's up real soon. Anyone want to take a guess at what Goose dressed as? Oh, and I am hoping to pull a balloon photo together, for this weeks theme, over at I Heart Faces No promises on that one.

In other news, my sister is doing well. All of her numbers have recovered, from this round of chemo. We will look forward to hearing the news from the transplant team on the 13th of this month. Thank you all for continuing to keep her in prayer.

I Heart Faces - Halloween

It is Halloween Week, over at I Heart Faces. Go check out all the wonderful entries.

Here is my favorite little guy. I just melt, when he gives me these big brown eyes.

This is the cutest darn pirate I have ever seen. I think I would say that even if I wasn't his mommy. Speaking of pirates, this little guy wants mommy to dress as a pirate too. So that is my mission today, find the stuff to dress like a pirate too.

A quick update, my sister is done with round two of chemo. We will know more after November 13th, when she meets with the transplant doctor again. They are going to do transplant, we just do not know if it will be before or after Christmas. Thank you again for all your prayers, and well wishes, our family is eternally grateful.

I Heart Faces - Pink Week

If only she could see me now.

It's "Pink Week" over at I Heart Faces, in honor of breast cancer awareness month. It all about the pink, this week.

Cancer, in general, is weighing very heavily on my heart lately. With my sister battling with leukemia, and now, recent news of a beloved school teacher of mine, struggling with this disease, it's hard not to get angry at it.

Especially since we have been down the road with cancer before. My Grandmother, who I can honestly say, was one of the greatest women I have ever known, battled with breast cancer. She was a fighter, struck with this horrible disease in her early thirties, back then, women had a tough time surviving. It certainly was not like now, with all the advances they have made. But not my Grandmother, she came through, and oh am I so glad, for if not, I would not know all the wonderful things I know today.

My Grandmother went on to have a wonderful life, after the breast cancer, we were always very close. She called me the love of her life, I never really knew what that meant until after I had my own children. She taught me so much about life and living.

In my Grandmother's seventies cancer struck again, almost forty years later. This time it was ovarian. It was not good, the doctor gave us horrible news after her surgery. All my Grandmother could say was, " I want to live long enough to see you get married, and have a baby." Sadly she died the next day.

So when I Heart Faces announced "Pink Week" I knew it was the perfect time to share about the women I miss most in my life. Now, she did not get to see me get married and have a baby, but certainly was there in spirit. My Grandmother was such a gift to me, and I miss her horribly.

In honor of "pink week" and in memory of my Grandmother, I give you the gal that lives and breathes pink.

If only she could see me now....

As much as it breaks my heart, that my Grandmother did not make it to see my children, I just hold comfort in knowing that I can keep her memory alive, within them. This little gal would have had my Grandmother wrapped around her little finger.

Thanks to I Heart Faces for letting us remember a very important thing.

A little bit of an update.

Thank you to those of you that have left messages of concern. It really does warm my heart to know that I have people near and far that our concerned about our family.

It certainly has been a bit of a crazy week around here. As far as my sister Brook, the transplant board decided that she should have another round of chemo and then transplant in about eight weeks. Brook was very happy that she will be home for her favorite holiday, Thanksgiving. This makes us happy too, now I am not sure if they will do transplant before or after Christmas. Brook is currently in the hospital receiving her second round of chemo. So far she is just really tired. She should come home hopefully early next week, but she will have to go in three times a week for blood counts and possible transfusions. This is such a tough process on anyone. We continue to pray for a complete healing, if that would be God's will.

Here is a picture of Brook enjoying a bit of sunshine the day before she entered the hospital for round two. Thank you all for continuing to pray for her.

In other news, I had to call 911 for the first time ever Tuesday night. Both my kids, as some of you know, have breathing issues with fragile airways. When they are sick it gets worse. Well Goose had a scratchy throat the other day, she said she felt fine, and I wondered if maybe she was coming down with something. Sure enough, about 11:00pm she woke us with that horrible barking cough. Well, this time it was a bit worse, she was visibly struggling to breath. Even though we had been down this road before, it felt a bit different. The Mister was holding her, and took her out side for the cool air, the next thing I hear is call 911. Now, in the past I have either tried to wait it and see our doctor in the morning or transported her myself to the ER. Having to have emergency assistance put a whole new dimension to this situation.

When the kids are like this, the only thing that truly helps the airway is steroids. That is exactly what we received at the ER and we were back home for self care. She hardly moved at all yesterday, today she is up and about a little bit, and slept much better last night. Steroids tend to make them a bit grumpy or agitated, I can tell that is happening already. I am just thankful she is okay and on the mend.

I Heart Faces - Fix-it Friday

Well, it is my first time participating in I Heart Faces - Fix it Friday. There are always so many wonderful edits, I just have never jumped in with them.

Having really been trying to work on my editing skills, I thought I would give it a try this week. Practice, practice, practice is what I have been doing lately.

This was just another perfect opportunity for practice. Below is the original photo. Is he not cute just the way it is? You can just tell he is full of personality.

Now, here is my edit version. I really hated to crop out most of his lovely hair, but I just loved his eyes and I wanted them to be more of the focus.

I currently am using Photoshop Elements 6, one day I would love to move up, but for now, it fits the bill.

Next time I play along I will record what I did to get to my end result. For now, you will just have to look at, the before and after.

Finally giving in....

Well, we have so many changes going on in our lives, and the lives of those around us, I thought I would continue the trend, right here on my blog.

A while back, I had eluded to some changes coming, then my sister was diagnosed with Leukemia, and everything just kind of changed courses. I was going to do a giveaway, and that got put on hold, and a giveaway I mailed, never made it, along with some bills and birthday invitations, our darn mailman stinks. So I really have a lot of catching up to do.

As I said the other day, there is a peace about things right now, and I am just doing what I can to get it all done, and not give in to chaos or worry.

So this time, when I say be on the look out for some changes, I really mean it. I really have the need to simplify many things in my life, and I am taking the steps to do it.

I have a special bloggy friend, that I have come to really love. I have watched her creativity unfold with my very eyes. I am so happy for all that she is accomplishing, she really works hard, and deserves every bit of her success. That friend is Jill over at Sneaky Momma. Jill will be taking the ropes and helping to simplify my blog life. I am so excited about this, we have talked about it for a long time and the timing is finally right.

So be on the lookout for some changes.

Been working real hard, in my spare time, on my photoshop skills. I think it is finally sinking in.

Thought I would share a picture of Goosie Girl with you all.

This little girl is so special, and she certainly is every bit as sweet as she appears.

I have stopped praying for a lighter load, looks like the load is here to stay for awhile. What I did was switch my prayer to asking for strength to carry the load. The last couple of days, I have felt more peace than I have in a very long time. Hummm, amazing isn't it?

Anyway, as I continue to find more strength, I am in hopes you will see me a bit more often, here, and catching up with all of you. I actually have been lurking around, trying to see what has been going on.

In my spare time I got to photograph this sweet little girl and her sister. More pictures to come.

I have been on information overload lately and have had a hard time putting anything into words. We spent 4 hours with transplant doctors on Thursday, we will know by next Thursday the direction they are going to go.

For now, Brook is doing well, and we are so grateful to those that are helping out. There are so many things in the air, for her, as well as for us. Please continue to keep us in prayer.

I Heart Faces - Blue

It's blue week, over at I Heart Faces.

I guess you can say I am a little blue. I have little, or no time, for the computer and blogging lately.

Still making sure my sister is taken care of, and things are in full swing with the kids at pre-school and I have a few other things mixed in with all of that.

I am in hopes, that things will slow down for me soon, and I can get back into a nice schedule. I don't think I have ever been stretched this thin. Still grateful though, just stretched and tired.

Regardless of all of that, it is hard for me to pass a week up, with I Heart Faces. I searched the archives, to find something to fit the theme this week.

Not my best shot, but loved the look on my little Goosie girls face here. Fresh out of the blue water, with her blue suit, and blue-green eyes. Yep, I would say it fits the theme.

Because you have all been praying, and because I have permission. I thought I would share with you what we did today.

Watching someone you love go through a difficult time is tough. Being able to make them happy and smile makes it all a little easier.

Brook wanted her hair shaved off today. It was falling out and time to go.
She was so cute about it, she just wanted it done. She even trusted a guy like this to do it.

I'm kidding that's my hubby with the mask on. You think he has a little experience with that razor?

She was so relieved when it was finally off. I think she looks beautiful. In fact God gave her a perfectly shaped head, he knew she was going to need it one day.

My dear sister looks so much like our father. I just know he is walking right beside her somehow.

You never know where life is really going to lead you. Look at Brook, she is twenty eight years old. One month ago, she never imagined her life would be what it is today. But I can tell you, she has been walking through this, with more grace and strength than I think I could ever have.

Hello it's me again...

I just knew I wasn't going to be able to get on much this last week. To say things are crazy busy, is an understatement.

We have lots of things that continue to keep us in prayer around here. I appreciate all of you that have been praying for our family.

My sisters numbers are rising again, after falling from chemotherapy (this is good). We are anticipating a second marrow biopsy next week, to see if the cells went into remission. For now, she remains hospitalized, hoping for a release to come home next week. She will then go see the transplant doctor and see where she proceeds.

There are many more things that have kept us busy this week. I have always tried to minimize the length of my posts for reader convenience. I may have to break my own rules since I cant get on as much. I apologize in advance, if I start to get wordy.

I am making a few personal changes around here, hoping to grow spiritually through it. I have also turned the camera to completely manual and joined a photography for moms group. This too, I believe will help me grow in that area.

I Heart Faces - Contemplation

So after a week off, I am so happy to have an entry again. It is contemplation week, over at I Heart Faces. Definition brought to you by the wonderful ladies at I Heart Faces.

Our Definition: thoughtful observation; full or deep consideration; dreamily or wistfully thoughtful: a pensive mood; expressing or revealing thoughtfulness; quiet modes of apparent or real thought; can be marked by some sadness, but doesn't have to be.

I know I am a little early, but the way our weeks have been, I may not get to it, if I don't post it now.

I have to say I just love my kiddos. If you have been around here, any amount of time, you know that for some reason, Goose always has that "deep in thought" look about her. I knew it would be fairly easy, to fit her right into this weeks theme.

To my surprise, the last time I had the camera out, I was actually able to get both kids in a shot together. What do you think these two are thinking about?

When I was editing this, I just felt the love, that these two share. This is my new favorite picture, of the two of them. Goose, as usual, has that far off, thought filled look about her. And Rooney, you can tell, is just deep in thought about something.

This was taken right in the middle of all that is going on. I just needed a distraction, and grabbed the camera, and took the kids out at sunset. Maybe they were thankful for the downtime too.

This makes me smile. I feel so blessed to have these two little ones. My little gifts from God, who could ask for anything more?

Ok, so I am tring this on my phone again. I noticed last time it did not come out so well. I apologize in advance, I am just to tired to fire up the computer.

Anyway, it has been another busy week around here. I sure wish I had time to fill you in on it all. I even missed entering a photo for I Heart Faces. I guess it would have been a stretch anyway, the kids do not go back to school until next week. We are ready for next weeks theme though, more photos are still in my blogging future.

So the good news is. One of my sisters is a bone marrow match for my sister that has leukemia. This is the best news we have heard by far. Thank you for the continued prayer. Brook really feels like she is going to beat this disease.

Wordless Wednesday - Or Not

Someone just turned three last week. My sister insisted the festivities should go on. In fact, she said she would be mad at me, if we did not celebrate Rooney's birthday. We usually have big birthdays around here, this year we kept it small.

Rooney wanted a baseball birthday, and to the best of my ability, that is what he got. Birthday cake and all.

Having a child with severe food allergies, limits us to homemade. This was my best shot at a baseball cake. Despite the way it looked, I thought it was yummy.

I have tried to check in with some of you in the last few days. Missing all my bloggy buddies. Thank you for the continued prayer, our family sure does appreciate it.

Little Goose is a bit under the weather tonight, and Mr Rooney has his three year check up tomorrow. Both kids will head to pre-school Monday morning.

We still have lots going on, and I hope that I will be able to catch up soon.

I was sending an email this morning and thought I should share this thought with all of you too.

First, I have to tell you I am typing this from my phone, sorry if I hit the wrong keys. Second my hubby is taking me away for a much needed
distraction today.

On with my thought. Yesterday I was in visiting with my sister. She looked great by the way.
Round one of chemo is done, now we wait to see how her white blood cells rebuild.

Anyway, as I sat with her yesterday an overwhelming feeling of peace came over me.
I just felt the room fill with joy. That may sound strange to you, but it was almost like at that very
moment I felt as if I truly trusted God. Don't get me wrong, I have faith, but this just felt
like that confirmation that he was the one with the control and not me. Something felt really positive
about it.

Whatever the outcome may be, I know that I have no control on this situation.
I guess I had a moment of real surrender. It felt good. Really like everything was going to be as it should.

Look who has a birthday.

Three years ago today was labor day. Not only was it the Federal Holiday, I was also having a baby.

This little guy has forever changed our world.

I am forever grateful for this little gift from God.

In other news, today is my sisters last day of her induction chemo. So far she has been taking it well. She has needed a few blood transfusions and platelets added. A bit of getting sick, and a whole lot of bored moments.

Her strength, and positive attitude, remain amazing. She and I both believe she has a wonderful doctor, and remains in the hands of the great healer.

Her subtype came back in the intermediate risk area. This means she has a 50 percent chance of being completely cured. Today is considered day seven, and on day 20 she will have another bone marrow biopsy, to see if this round of treatment has put her into remission. After that it is off to the transplant doctor to see what her follow up treatment will look like. Possibly a transplant and 3-4 more rounds of chemo to keep this disease away.

Thank you for all the prayers on our families behalf. I miss you all and long for the day to have more computer time again.

I Heart Faces - Before and After

I needed a bit of a distraction with everything that is going on right now. This week at I Heart Faces is before and after week. What a great time to look back on how far we have all come, since the wonderful I Heart Faces ladies started their site.

I don't know about you, but I had no idea a year ago, how interested I would become in photography.

A year ago, I only owned a point and shoot. All I did was point and shoot, and maybe a little crop here and there. I dreamed of being able to take beautiful pictures of my children and payed to have them done instead.

These two photos below, are evidence I had a great subject to shoot at, but did not really know what I was doing. One of these, was actually my very first I heart faces entry... Any guesses which one?

I wanted to point out how small the photos were back then. I left them that way on purpose. I have learned so much from I Heart Faces, including how to post larger pictures on my blog. You know one's you can actually see.

These next couple of photos I just took and edited in August. I have learned so much in the last year. Like I said above, I had no idea I had a love of photography. What started out as wanting to take nicer photos of my children, has turned into a real passion to learn all I can.

A year later, and now the same little girl sits in front of a natural background, and looks into a lens of a DLSR, instead of a point and shoot. What a difference a year makes.

Learning to turn the flash off, shoot in the right light, the rule of thirds, those are just a few of the things that have helped me improve on my photography. A little trial and error on exposure, and many nights up looking at all the entries each week, have helped me learn so much

A willing little model doesn't hurt either. Thank you I Heart Faces, I will forever be grateful for all you, and everyone involved, have taught me.

I have so many things I could fill you in on. Since our famlies big blow last Tuesday, I find myself with less time than ever. What spare time I do have right now, is spent with my little sister.

Speaking of my little sister, who is in the biggest battle, she might ever face. I am telling you, she has the bravest heart of anyone I have ever seen. Her courage has been amazing this week. I can see how tired she is getting, and yet she is fighting. Fighting to stay positive, fighting to keep a smile on her face, fighting to kick this disease, right where it belongs. I am not sure I would, or could, be as strong as she has been. It is truly amazing to watch. She is on day three of chemo, with four left to go, of this first round. Please pray for complete healing, and her continued strength the next few weeks ahead.

In other news, someone I know will be three, very shortly, this mama has nothing done to prepare for the celebration. I had wanted to cancel doing anything, but my sister insisted we celebrate, she said she would be very mad if I didn't do anything.

Now for some good news:

I had won a lovely giveaway, from Beth E, recently. It came in the mail this week, God's perfect timing. I opened the package, and it smelled heavanly. The candle was Hot Apple Butter, and the box was loaded with all kinds of fall goodies. One of the most lovely things was a set of nesting boxes. They were inscribed with the words Faith, Hope and Love on each of them, that is exactly what our family needs right now. Thank you Beth, I felt like it was a little gift from God, right through you.

Not sure how often I am going to be able to get around, but I have tried to peak in, and see what is going on. I just can't take the extra time to leave messages right now. Just know that I appreciate all of your prayers, as I know Brook does also, and know I am thinking about all of you too.

Aches and Pains

Dear Lord, please do not let me complain ever again about one single ache or pain I may have. Seriously, after watching how brave my 28 year old sister has been the last few days, I have no room to complain ever.

It was confirmed last night that my sister Brook was diagnosed with Acute Myelogenous Leukemia. The subtype testing is not back yet. The doctors have enough information to begin her induction round of chemotherapy today. I ask that you continue to lift her in prayer, as she walks through this.

My heart aches for her, but she is being so brave. I feel so torn, I would love to spend every minute there with her, but I have two small children who need me also. I am praying for balance and the strength and courage I need to comfort my sister.

Thank you to all that have left uplifting comments and have sent me direct emails of concern and prayer. The next 25 days or so will be the most critical. Once the other test is back, they will know how to proceed with transplant and consolidation chemo.

The last few days have been very up in the air. It is finally good to know for sure so we can support her in efforts to kick this disease out...

I will keep you updated.

Just Checking In

I feel so out of touch. I have not had more than a few minutes to get on the computer, for the last few days. Man do I miss reading my regular blogs. Not sure when I am going to get back to my regular routine.

Thank you for all the thoughts and prayers for our family, they are of great comfort. I have my phone with me, and am able to see all the nice comments.

Please continue to lift my sister in prayer. It is so comforting to know that she is being prayed for by so many. Not just people we know in real life, but all of you, that I have come to enjoy so much.

They have given her a presumed diagnosis, based on what is in front of them, there is a very slight chance they are wrong, and we should know by Friday. What ever the outcome, she has assured me she is ready to fight with whatever she has.

Thanks again, and hopefully I will check in again tomorrow. I miss stopping by and checking in on all of you so much. I don't know how in the world I will ever be able to go back and catch up.

I'm at a loss for word and need to ask for prayer.

My head is spinning, and I have not had much sleep. My eyes are sore, and I am falling at his feet. I really have no words to describe the sorrow I feel. I had such a rough day yesterday, but it pails in comparison, to what is ahead for someone I love.

I am asking you to pray for my sister Brook, she is very scared and needs to be wrapped in prayer. I am not at liberty yet to discuss all the details, but God knows them, and I just ask that you lift her in prayer.

Thank you all dear bloggy buddies from the bottom of my heart. I promise as soon as I have permission, and we get more of the details I will let you all know what is going on.

I Heart Faces - Nostalgia

It's nostalgia week, over at I Heart Faces. I thought that this was going to be kind of tough for me. What was I going to take a picture of, that gave me a nostalgic feeling?

Something from the past, or shot somewhere from the past. Anything with a face, that gave me a feeling from long ago.

It hit me, as I was looking over pictures, of our recent surprise trip to Disneyland.

Just looking at my daughter, usually takes me back in time. You know, when life was carefree, and joy always came from the simple things. Not to mention, she looks a lot like I did.

Well, put a couple of braids on her, Minnie Mouse ears, and a ride on the big carousel, at the happiest place on earth, and I was instantly taken back thirty years or so. Okay, maybe a few more than that.

I'm telling you, that was me when I was her age. She keeps me young, just by looking at her.

This is sure to be a fun week, I can't wait to check out all the entries. I love I Heart Faces, really I do.

A peak into our day at Disneyland

Thought you might like a peak into our day at Disneyland.

Peaking out of the stroller is exactly what Rooney was doing right there. Thinking I could not catch him on film. Notice mouth full of food again... This kid can eat.

The kids had no idea where I was taking them. They were guessing all kinds of cute things. Not once did they say Disneyland. Target, the park, Zoo, the library were just a few of their guesses.

Right when we were close, I asked Goose what one of the street signs said. Her answer was stop. Well not that one silly the one above it. She said does it say Disney? Yep sweetheart, that is exactly what it says. Man I wish I had it on tape, but I was driving. She then got the biggest smile and asked if we were at Disneyland. The big surprise was a success.

When we first got there Goose got stung by a bee. Goodness did it scare me. She was thrashing around in the stroller and I looked down and there was a bee on her face. She cried for at least thirty minutes saying it hurt and make it stop. Luckily since both the kids battle allergies she had taken allergy meds that morning and I really think that lessened her reaction. It swelled initially and two small hives showed up, but she recovered quickly. By the end of the day just the sting site was a bit yellow.

As you will see they had a great time.

Even Mom got in on a little bit of the fun.

By the way, Kaleena from McNabb Land hit 30,000, on the nose, and earned a gold star. Sorry Beth, you were sooo close. If anybody can guess how much we paid for two balloons, on the way out, you will earn yourself a gold star. Take a guess it will be fun.

We are headed to the house of the mouse, as I love to call it. I have been saying this, to keep it a big surprise for the kids.

Yep, Disneyland here we come. Right now there is a Southern California resident special we can not pass up. That, and the fact we have friends visiting, gave us the perfect excuse to breakdown and go.

The kids have no idea. I can not wait to see Goose's face when she realizes where we are going.

So Sarah has earned herself a gold star. I plan to come up with a star chart soon, and let you know the rest of the details of the contest soon. Remember, I love to surprise.

We have a big surprise for the kids tomorrow. They have no idea where we are going. They know they have a special surprise, one day this week, that is it.

We will be headed out fairly early tomorrow, for a fun filled day. We are meeting a friend at our destination. We have been friends since we were three years old. Any of you that know how old I am, would agree we have known each other for a very long time. Her little guy is just a couple months older than Rooney. We have not seen each other for over a year. Her family moved out of state last year. This makes tomorrow that much more special.

Anyway, here is what I am getting at... The first person that can guess, exactly where we are going tomorrow, gets a gold star. I have a little gold star giveaway planned really soon, so you might want to start collecting them now.

I really have no hints for you, random guesses will have to do. I will tell you like I have told the kids, it is really fun, and I am certain they are REALLY going to like it.

By the way, Lori from Teacher Turned Mommy won a gold star the other day, for being the first person to guess, the picture of The Mister and I, was at a vineyard. Are you guys getting the idea of it yet?

Weekend Wrap-Up

Busy weekend, but not a whole lot to talk about. Seems like we did a lot of running here then there.

We did get a date night in though, that was rather special, it is so nice to be able to have a night out, every once and awhile.

Oh, and here is a preview of the new hair. It's hard to tell in this picture, but it is considerable lighter than usual.

We had a great time, and I hope we can do it again soon.

Isn't the scenery beautiful? Can anyone guess where they think we were?

One another good note, I have a very special surprise for the kids this week, thanks to a friend coming in from out of town. I have learned not to tell them in advance, in case it doesn't work out, so stay tuned for that.

The bad news is, I am having computer issues again. Ugh it stinks. So if I have not been around in awhile that's why, just frustrated with the computer issue. The Mister is going to try to look at it tonight.

Not So Wordless Wednesday - My Favorite

Did you you guys think I forgot to tell you which picture of Goose was my favorite?

It was a tough decision, but this shot cropped in a bit closer, did it for me. Those eyes, and that slight smile of hers, gets me every time. She really does have a sweet personality, and I think it shines through in this shot. If you knew her IRL I think you would agree with me.

In other news, we are on day three of potty training, enough said there. Seriously, I think it is going well, just a lot of patience and prayer. Rooney is doing well, and I am hanging in there with him. Goose was much easier to train.

By the way, I have lost my list of blogs that I follow, blogger is saying they will be returned, but in the meantime, if you don't see me around that is why.

Random Wrap-Up

We are back from our extended weekend getaway. I sure have lots to catch up on, and I'm not just talking about the laundry. Please let me know if anything major is going on, it might take me awhile to catch up, and I hate to miss out on the really important stuff.

One foot in front of the other, and I should be back on track, in no time.

We had a great time at the Colorado River, the kids enjoyed themselves, and the weather was beautiful. I really did not take as many pictures as I thought I would. Something about the boat, and small kids, didn't leave my hands as free as I wanted. Oh well, they are only young once, right?

Today was our first real day potty training Rooney. Final score 5-1. That's five in the potty, one in the pants. Not too bad in my opinion. The best part of the day was at the end of it, he started asking to go himself. Man, when he said that, I just about pee'd my pants... Here's praying tomorrow is just as productive.

One month until preschool starts. I will have both kids gone for three hours a day, three days a week. Wow, what is that going to be like? For some of you that are new around here, I actually work from home, or am suppose to anyway. I might actually be able to get the office caught up.

I am thinking about a new look around here, not the house, just the blog...Stay tuned for news on that.

Friday I am getting my hair done, anyone have any thoughts on that?

Alright, off to catch up on some of you, that is until I drop, I am pretty tired tonight.

Sorry I had no time to post earlier today. Sure is a lot of work packing a family up for a little get away.

We have been on the road quite awhile now. Both kids are asleep and hubby tells me we have a little less than an hour to go. We are river bound for the next few days.

The kids are so excited, they can't wait to hit that water. As for me, well I'm just going with the flow, camera in hand. Pretty certain I'll update on twitter, if you follow there. If not see you when we get back.

Our Goosie Girl that is. The kids have been in a cooperative mood, the last couple of days, as far as the picture taking goes anyway.

Got a few good shots of Goose today, I thought I would share with you. I tread lightly with them, and the camera lately. We are finding a nice balance, of getting to practice on them, as long as I don't push them too far. And since they are my only models, I really listen for the signs. I certainly don't want to go back to the place where they would run and turn their heads every time I pulled the camera out.

I definitely have my favorite of the three. Which one do you think it is, and which one is your favorite?

True Story Tuesday

Oh boy, I thought it was time to play along again, with Rachel and Mr. Daddy, over at Once Upon a Miracle.

We were talking the other night about how funny it is sometimes, when kids mispronounce things. On the other hand, sometimes it is just downright embarrassing. You be the judge.

When Goose was little, she had a hard time saying fox. When she said fox, it really sounded like the four letter word, beginning with F.

One day on Sesame Street, Jamie Fox was a guest star. So Goose was using the word fox often. She could not stop talking about Jamie Fox, and Elmo dressed as a fox. Now just imagine her chanting Jamie Fox, Elmo Fox etc. Remember what her fox sounded like? Everything was a fox around here for awhile. We even had a flash card with F for fox, which just fueled the fire.

One Sunday, we were leaving church, and she started her fox chant routine. This time she added the story of the Mommy and Daddy Fox. Good gracious, am I glad that phase didn't last long. Thought we had a little sailor on our hands around here for awhile.

Well, another weekend come and gone. I can not believe it has been a few days since I have posted. We had a nice, but extremely busy weekend.

My hubby spoiled me this weekend, (more on that another time). So when he called this morning, to say he left something really important at home, and couldn't get away to come home for it. What do you think I did?

The kids were still asleep, and I was enjoying quite time. I was actually catching up on the news still under the covers, that rarely happens around here. I'll ask you again. What do you think I did? Do you think I would have done the same thing whether or not he spoiled me this weekend? What would you have done?

I have lots of stuff to catch up on, so I must run. Thought I would just check in and let you know we are alright. I might be checking in on all of you later tonight too.

I Heart Faces - Beach Week

It's beach week over at I Heart Faces. Luckily we just spent some time at the beach recently. Not so lucky that most of my pictures had the kids running from me, or looking away from the camera. I will save that for another blog post.

I did happen to snap the most precious moment of my two little one's. There is certainly a lot of love for each other, even though at times they choose not to show it.

This really warms my heart. I can just hear Goose now, "come on brother, it will be okay." They certainly had a blast, everyday we spent at the beach.

I Heart Faces - Feet Week

It's feet week, over at I Heart Faces. Oh, it feels so good to be able to participate again.

The first photo I thought about, when I heard it was feet week, was an oldie but goodie. How I wish I could recreate this exact moment. I have learned so much in the last year, since this photo was taken. But this photo moment could never be staged.

Mister Rooney came out in his sisters princess shoes. I got the shot right as he was looking at his feet. I wonder what he was thinking. Now, this was done with a point and shoot, and long before I understood anything about composition.

At least he picked the shoes that matched his outfit. One day he may not be too happy that I posted this photo. And if you have been following my blog for awhile, you may remember seeing this priceless moment before.

On a side note, I have my first newborn shoot tomorrow, any thoughts from the photogs?

We are back from another great time at the beach. The weather was much cooler than we are experiencing at our house. I know come this weekend I am going to really want to go back. For now, I am a little tired, my scalp is sunburned, and we are trying to settle back in to our routine.

I have tons of pictures I am trying to upload, and get posted. I promise you will see more beach shots soon. I plan to get them all done this weekend, so I can concentrate on those newborn photos I plan to take next week.

I know you all want to hear the winner of my "surprise contest", but first I must tell you a wonderful random act of kindness story.

It seems like every time I do a contest, with a giveaway, something neat happens to us. I did not do the contest for that reason, but it just worked out that way again. I had won a couple of things myself lately (which I owe Mimi a picture of) and thought it was a fun time to give back.

Back to the subject at hand. I walked down to get the kids, and grandpa some donuts, while we were at the beach one morning. Of course, I also needed a strong cup of coffee, nothing new there. Anyway, after I grilled the donut shop, about their kitchen practices, to see if it was safe for my nut allergic guy, and after they already started my extra shot americano. I looked down, and the sign on the counter said, cash only. Oh goodness did I look like an idiot. I tried to stop him from making the coffee, and said I would have to go get some cash. You should have seen the look on his face. Well, as I was about to turn away, the lady standing next to me offered to pay and put down ten dollars and walked away.

Wow, what a wonderful gesture, she asked nothing in return and wanted no recognition. Amazing, instead of being annoyed at me, like everyone else in line, she actually wanted to lend me a hand. That just does not happen very often. So in honor of the generosity I received, be on the lookout for when I pay it forward.

Well, unfortunately this post is way to long, I must announce the winners in a later post....

Just kidding...but you know how I feel about keeping it short and sweet. I think I can make an exception this time, since I know you want to know who won the surprise contest.

It is hot here, very very hot. I've been a little frustrated about my lack of being able to connect to the internet, and my land line, for that matter. I thought a random, surprise contest, would help me blow off some steam.

Whew, I was beginning to think, everything I touched was doomed. It has been a bit of a crazy thing, around my parts, at least where technical equipment is concerned.

I think the bit of fairy dust, that my Fairy Blogmother Julie from Wife.Mom.Nurse, spread did the trick. Here it is again, just in case you missed it. And if you missed her adorable guest post, click here, it was way too cute, thanks again Julie. I tell you she really is a life saver. I think I will tell you all a wonderful true story about her on Tuesday. It will warm your heart, I promise.

I think this stuff is magical. All of sudden, this afternoon the modem started working again, out of the blue. The signal is weak,and it comes in and out, but for now I am on. The tech comes out on Tuesday, so until then, I may be on and off.

I know some of you have been waiting to see my first ever maternity shoot. I have included some of my favorites of the day.

I can hardly believe we shot these on Tuesday, and my Sister had an eight pound baby, Friday morning. Mom and baby are doing great. Now, guess who gets to try her hand at newborn photos?

The Magic of a Fairy Blogmother

Once upon a time there was a lovely blogger whose name was Elaine.

Elaine was happily blogging along...

when suddenly her internet was out of service, and oh my, so was her laptop.

The lovely blogger sat home alone, disconnected from all of her bloggy friends. She was sad and distressed that all of her friends would think that she had disappeared into the bloggy abyss.

As she sat in despair, a thought went through her brilliant mind…it was time to contact her Fairy Blogmother. She picked up her landline and to her dismay, there was no dial tone. Thank goodness for cellphones! She looked and sure enough, she had bars.

Quickly dialing, before disaster struck yet another utility, she reached ME, yes ME, Julie, wifemomnurse…her fairy blogmother.

I am here to tell you that Elaine misses all of you very much and hopes you are all well. She would love to receive your comments, as she gets them transmitted magically to her cell. If you are her friend on Facebook, she is still connected there. Whew, thank goodness, I’m afraid she would have swooned if she didn’t have her Facebook to display the maternity pictures that she recently shot of her amazing sister, just days before she gave birth. (No silly, not Elaine, her sister!)

Now, faithful followers, do not despair. Elaine is very optimistic that on Tuesday the repairman will return and get her back online! She has a post ready and waiting so she can present to you her maternity shoot. I, for one, am really looking forward to that! As we all know, Elaine has a natural gift for photography and she is blossoming before our very eyes.

Well, for now, I shall sprinkle a bit of fairy dust on this blog of my friend in real life, Elaine. We both wish you all a wonderful weekend filled with summer amusements…

The Matters of the Heart Fairy Blogmother

Right in the middle of uploading the maternity pictures, I took yesterday, my laptop took a turn for the worse. I think it might even be officially dead, however, the doc has not confirmed it yet.

I just wanted to let you know, if you did not see much of me lately, that is the reason. While we have a desktop, it is just not as convienient for me to be on it, with the kids.

Hoping I'm wrong, and I will be up and running real soon.
